A Simple Choice…

Today I went to visit my little brother at our home home (house we grew up in ;) )… I wanted to get (maybe) a few photos for my tilt-shift project, but while I had my camera with me, I took a few “extra” shots as well!!! :)

While editing a few, one of them left me indecisive - I couldn’t decide which I like better: Colour or B/W?? Maybe you can help me out…

I am leaning a bit more to the B/W – I like the textures & I think this would look great on a canvas… :P

But I’m a colour girl – I just love the colour!! :) **

Usually I am all for black & white, but in this case, I love the colour … the relationship between the blue of the water and the greens is really captivating. Having said that … I’d also try a section of the black and white image, enlarged as much as you can to capture the details & texture more closely. That could produce some really nice results, especially with the fine details of the leaves.

I like the colour one, I think it is because of the colour of the water and the contrast of the leaves, they seem to work really well together. That is my thoughts. :)

Uhmmm…hope that’s not the swimming pool? ;) I like the colour one better, but to me only a small percentage of photographs look really good in B&W. Maybe, as Sydney said above, if you cropped a bit and used only a section of the whole picture? But I like it -it’s different. :) xxx

Color!! Not only do the colors work perfectly together, I don’t feel it works as well in B/W, there is something missing, perhaps not enough shades of grey? Your photos of old churches and buildings in B/W are gorgeous the details and architecture creates all the excitement. In this one the color is stunning :D (would be an awesome photo to hang in the bathroom I just tiled. ;) )

I see what is missing in the B/W. The leaves could be on a puddle in the road. The depth is lost. In the color you can see down into the water. That’s what creates the interest and the excitement. :D Maybe. You know how it is “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” :D

True true – I’m going to follow Sydney’s suggestion & zoom into the b/w… hopefully I’ll get a little more texture!!! But I think the depth is forever lost on this shot!! :) **

Another one for color … no that B&W isn’t pleasing … It’s just that it’s quite a pool of contrasting colors in a pool Hehe :D

Add me to those voting for color – the two dominant colors really go well together. Also, on the B&W one, the leaves in front, which come out almost black, weigh down the picture.

I like both, and my first instinct was to say color, but in looking at the b&w i like that one too. But I’m going to stick with my gut and vote color.
