Today I went to visit my little brother at our home home (house we grew up in 😉 )… I wanted to get (maybe) a few photos for my tilt-shift project, but while I had my camera with me, I took a few “extra” shots as well!!! 🙂
While editing a few, one of them left me indecisive – I couldn’t decide which I like better: Colour or B/W?? Maybe you can help me out…
I am leaning a bit more to the B/W – I like the textures & I think this would look great on a canvas… 😛
But I’m a colour girl – I just love the colour!! 🙂 **
Colour for sure! But then I’m a colour person too.
colour! nice photo!
Usually I am all for black & white, but in this case, I love the colour … the relationship between the blue of the water and the greens is really captivating. Having said that … I’d also try a section of the black and white image, enlarged as much as you can to capture the details & texture more closely. That could produce some really nice results, especially with the fine details of the leaves.
Thanks Sydney – I’ll give it a go!!! It makes sense – b/w is all about texture!! 🙂 **
I vote for the color version, it’s a “happy” photogragh, the B&W is OK, but it looks like a grim, dead photo.
I’ll take “happy” anyday!!! 🙂 **
I like the colour one, I think it is because of the colour of the water and the contrast of the leaves, they seem to work really well together. That is my thoughts. 🙂
It seems everyone was pro-colour!!! But that’s fine – colour is a super choice!! 🙂 **
Uhmmm…hope that’s not the swimming pool? 😉 I like the colour one better, but to me only a small percentage of photographs look really good in B&W. Maybe, as Sydney said above, if you cropped a bit and used only a section of the whole picture? But I like it -it’s different. 🙂 xxx
Hahaha… yes, that’s the swimming pool!!! 😉 It seems colour wins this one hands down – I’m definitely going to try Sydney’s suggestion!!! If the result look good, I’l post it!! 🙂 **
No question in my mind. The colour shot is far more interesting. I do tend to prefer colour shots though :).
I’m also more often than not pro colour!!! 🙂 **
I’m afraid it’s color for me. I like B&W, but for this, color. There is something about the blue….
Aaaahhh – those blues!!! Magic!! 😉 **
Color!! Not only do the colors work perfectly together, I don’t feel it works as well in B/W, there is something missing, perhaps not enough shades of grey? Your photos of old churches and buildings in B/W are gorgeous the details and architecture creates all the excitement. In this one the color is stunning 😀 (would be an awesome photo to hang in the bathroom I just tiled. 😉 )
That’s what HWTHB said as well – it needs a couple more shades!!! 🙂 Why is it we both thought of bathrooms for this shot!! – great minds?? 😉 **
I see what is missing in the B/W. The leaves could be on a puddle in the road. The depth is lost. In the color you can see down into the water. That’s what creates the interest and the excitement. 😀 Maybe. You know how it is “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” 😀
True true – I’m going to follow Sydney’s suggestion & zoom into the b/w… hopefully I’ll get a little more texture!!! But I think the depth is forever lost on this shot!! 🙂 **
The color one for sure!! Awesome photo! 😀
Tough choice! I think it depends on where you would want to hang it. I love both.
I’m not going to be much help since I love both versions.
I’m torn, both are fantastic but I think B&W edges it sor me especially if it’s going to be a hung print.
Aaaah, thanks Mr Bunny Chow!!! you are the first to be pro b/w!!! Hahaha – thanks!! 🙂 **
I’m odd like that
Both look great Xandre! But I really love the color version. It’s such a vibrant contrast
Another one for color … no that B&W isn’t pleasing … It’s just that it’s quite a pool of contrasting colors in a pool Hehe 😀
Hahaha… thank Rommel!!! Love the pun!! 😉 **
Add me to those voting for color – the two dominant colors really go well together. Also, on the B&W one, the leaves in front, which come out almost black, weigh down the picture.
Colour it is then!!! I think I’m going to try something different with the b/w… maybe I’ll get a different result!! Thanks Joe!! 🙂 **
I think the colour has the edge. Really good shot.
both are terrific shots, just in different perspectives.
I like both, and my first instinct was to say color, but in looking at the b&w i like that one too. But I’m going to stick with my gut and vote color.
