In order for me to keep on track with posting every now and again, I have decided to do a fun fact/s with my photos that I share with you. We have been blessed to visit some dream-come-true destinations this year & I would love to share some of our highlights with you!
First up, one of our more recent trips – The Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. Oh.my.Goodness…. This was beyond anything I could ever have imagined. It’s beauty is just breathtaking around every.single.corner.
Grand Canyon Fun Facts – Part 1
- The Grand Canyon is located in Arizona – “The Grand Canyon State”
- The Grand Canyon was formed some 17 million years ago. Until recently, it was believed to be only about 4 to 6 million years old.
- The Grand Canyon is about 446 km long and averages a depth of about 1.6 km. At its widest point, it spans 29 km!
I was also there earlier this year,a truly amazing place!
I REALLY want to go back!! We hiked the South Kaibab trail… but I would love to do the overnight and hike up to the North rim!! 🙂
When we went this year we stayed on the North Rim, but didn’t do any hiking. It’s been years since I’ve been on the South Rim. But for the ultimate experience, you should try a raft trip through the canyon! Again it’s been years since I’ve done that, but it is fantastic! Hope you get back some day.
We wanted to the rafting, but found out is was right on the East end of the canyon… and for the time that we were there, the drive was too long!! (and we just came from that side from Monument Valley!)… But now we know! 🙂
