Loving the Olympics…

I am soooooooooooo enjoying the Olympics!!! With all the gymnastics on the TV – it almost feels like Christmas & birthday wrapped into one!!! 😉

I found a great photo of the Tower Bridge & Beehive by Luke Agbaimoni!!! Thought I’d share it with you in keeping with the Olympic spirit!!! 😀

& an almost similar one by JP Photography… Which is just stunning!!!!

I’ve posted a great HDR on my facebook page of the Olympic Tower Bridge (also by JP Photography) – so if you would like to see another stunning HDR by JP Photography, please drop in & tell me what you think of it!!! 😀

… & in the meantime – enjoy the Olympic action!!! Really wish I didn’t have to work!!!! 😀 **

London, UK – Bench note

Walking along the Thames River in 2006, there was this note on a park bench…

” Everybody needs a place to think… “

I thought it very fitting!! 🙂

…& that concludes this week’s Travel Lane memory!!! 😀 **

Brighton, UK – Pebble Beach

In South Africa we have stretches of white sandy beaches!! … So, it was an interesting experience to walk on the pebble beaches of Brighton!!!

I still can’t understand how you would lie on this beach for hours on end…. Do you need a chair?? Or one of those lazy chair stuff?? Or do you just get used to the hardness of the pebbles??

It was a fond enough memory to make this my travel lane memory for the week!! Hope you had a great weekend!! 🙂 **

Birmingham, UK – Cadbury Factory

As promised – my second post & this weeks travel lane memory!!!

While we were in Birmingham, we decided to visit the Cadbury Factory… It was huge & smelling of super sweetness & filled with lots & lots & lots of chocolate!!! 😀

Normally I am not a sweet tooth – I’d much rather eat a packet of crisps – but I do enjoy chocolate when the craving hits!!! On this day we were showered with plenty… My favourites (which is not available in South Africa) was the buttons!!! We ate heaps of those!!! 😀

I think it would be safe to say that I gained a couple of kilo’s while we were there!!! 🙂 **

Birmingham, UK – Airport

Last night we had no electricity – 😦 !!! It was horrible… do you realise that everything that you keep yourself busy with in the evening involves electricity?? – We could not make dinner, could not heat the house (it was freaken freezing!!!!!), could not drink coffee, could not do our usual lazing in front of the tele & blogging etc… Did I mention that we were the only house on the block without electricity?? Yes, we did pay the bill 😉 …

This morning when we woke up – still no electricity… It totally sucked!!! 😦 During the day they fixed it, but they could give us no explanation to what happened or why!!! Specialists?? Really??

Anyway – I’m ranting… & all I really want to do is share my travel lane memory for the week!!! 😀

This was the glimpse of Birmingham that we got way back in 2005!!! It was a VERY cold day, but we were all excited for the adventure that lay ahead!! (for those of you who are new here, we worked on a turkey farm that holiday… hmmmm… where did your Christmas turkey come from that year??) 🙂

– – – Tilt-shift update – – – I have about five more photos in this “self-improving” project!!! Will share them with you soon!!! (I have a few more ideas for photos that I want to try and get before I start revealing my results!!) 🙂 Are you busy with your tilt-shift?? Share them with me on my facebook page!!! Would love to see your results!! 🙂 **

London, UK – South African Embassy

Oh no, I am not a very patriotic person (don’t get me wrong – I love South Africa, it is a super beautiful country), but…

I felt awfully proud when I noticed the beautiful South African Embassy standing tall and noticeable in (or is it on? or maybe next to? …) Trafalgar Square!!! 😀 I’ll call it my patriotic moment and make it this week’s Travel Lane memory!!! 🙂

Have you felt a burst of pride for something lately?? 🙂 **

Church street vs Sheep street!

In every town (lets say most towns – seeing how I have certainly not visited every town in SA)… In most towns in South Africa you will find a Church Street – in many cases this will be the main street in the town!!!

We found in UK (in the little amount of towns/villages that we visited), we always found a Sheep street!!! We had fun with this – but seeing that they were all jokes you ‘had-to-be-there-for-it-to-be-funny’ – it’s no use in sharing them here…

What I am going to share is of course the photo I took a typical ‘Sheep st.’ signage!! (It looks funny because I changed the perspective quite a lot – but I quite like the almost cartoonish effect this created!!!) 🙂

What do you think? Yay or Nay?? 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!! 😀 **

London, UK – Approaching Tower Bridge

Time for a Travel Lane memory (boy, I haven’t done one of these in a while!!!)… Tonight, I am returning to London!!! Rewind to year 2006, I have just purchased my new Samsung Digital camera the weekend before – so let’s call this trip its maiden voyage!!! 😉

Me and my ex-boyfriend had a weekend trip to London when we were working in Brighton… Of course, not having a clue yet how the camera worked, I took this shot… way to slow shutter speed – but in the end – I love this shot!!! It is one of my favourites – It reminds me of a faraway memory!!!

London, UK – London Eye

Again I have to apologise for my lack of posts!!! 😦 I’ve been keeping busy (& tried to scale down on the time I spend on my computer!!! – a conscious effort!!! 😉 ) … Have been doing a few DIY’s around the house – which I will share with you soon!!! 😀 I’ve discovered Pinterest – which I am officially addicted to!!! 😀 But it has inspired me to get up & get going!!! Still lots more to do though… only the tippy-tip of the iceberg!!! – – – We have cancelled our satellite tv, exactly for this reason!!! Once I have found my new balance I will hopefully post often again!!! 🙂

But for today (late this week)… my Travel Lane memory!!! 🙂 Again one of those that I’ve seen a few times, but have not actually been on (next time for sure!!!)… The London Eye!!! This place such a big part in the touristy aspect of London, that I cannot believe that I’ve not been up there even once in the 3 times I’ve visited London!!! 😦 Love this structure though… I love the happy memories and gooey feelings these images brings forth when I see it!!! 😀 **
