Some more acrobatic shots from our trip to Ballito (South Africa)…
We went away for the long weekend for a quick break!!! It was sooooo relaxing… Sleeping – reading magazines – brunches – jacuzzi – walks on the beach…
My one&only He-who-thinks-he’s-boss (HWTHB) took this photo of me & my bestie on the last day before leaving…
Here is to our last trip to a South African beach (-at least for a while…) 😦
Great memories!!! 🙂 **
This will be the last post of my Holiday Series… 😦 I am again going to share only a few photos… We had a great time with friends, some awesome travels, unforgettable memories, some bad experiences & great days… I am looking forward to the next time that we will be able to have another holiday…!!! 😀 I hope you enjoy these last few photos!!! 🙂
There are three stands up there…. huge stands… (way above what we can afford)… But these views stole our heart…. we want to build our house here someday!!! I could end my day with this view & silence!!! 🙂
& I’ll end this holiday series with this photo… For a wonderful holiday… For getting back home in one piece… For great friends… even better memories… & what would hopefully be an unforgettable 2012!!! 😀
Over the next couple of days we didn’t really do anything significant… But we sure did have a good time relaxing with friends… Enjoying the beach… Just generally hanging out!!! 🙂 So, today I’ll only share a few photos taken over those few days!!! 😀
Hope you enjoyed these few photos!!! 🙂 **
We spent a beautiful day on the beach….. 😀 It was super windy (which I dislike), but the heat was soooooo intense, I think we would have suffered without that muscled breeze!!!
Without realizing it, we spent a good 4 hours of doing sudoku, reading our books & lazing under our umbrellas!!! It was pure bliss!!! 🙂 This was our last day in Stellenbosch… & it was a beautiful one!!! 😀
The next morning we set out to meet up with our friends in Glentana… we were super excited to spend the next couple of days of doing nothing, spending hours on the beach & having a good time!!!
On route, we decided to stop at Lourensford Wine Farm for a breakfast (to early to do the “wine-thing” 😉 )… It is one of my favourite wineries ever…. it is wonderfully beautiful!!!!
It did not disappoint…. & He-who-thinks-he’s-boss felt a pang of regret that we did not visit here sooner…. (I told him so 😉 )… but nevertheless, we had a great breakfast on a stunning farm!!!! 😀
From here we set out on our 5 hour drive to Glentana… 🙂 I forgot to add that we scorched ourselves on the beach the day before…. so bad that we had to put towels over our legs to protect it from the sun…. It was Ouchie!!!! 😀
We arrived in Glentana… super stoked…. a few hours later…. We had a great day catching up with our friends… Enjoying the feeling of complete relaxation!!!!
The next day was Christmas day…. & true to our beautiful South Africa, the day was sunny, warm & inviting!!!! We spent the entire morning (and most of the afternoon) playing games on the beach, reading, sleeping & just generally being…. 🙂
Also true to Christmas day in South Africa…. later in the afternoon it started raining… Oh my, how I love this gorgeous day!!! 😀
We had a fantastic dinner…. great friends… awesome conversation…. yummy yummy food!!!! Interesting fact for the evening… we did not leave the dinner table until well after 24h00… we played card games, drank wine & had a great time!!!! 😀
What an unforgettable evening/day… it was spent with truly fantastic people!!! Can’t wait to do it again!!! 😀 **
After our view we continued on our journey… We made contact with our friend again & he informed us that he will only be home by 20h30 (it was only 17h00 at the time)… 😦 After such a long day on the road we were really looking forward to a nice long hot bath…
To make time go by faster we decided to travel the 20 odd kilometres to Strand to relax and dunk our toes into the beach!!! – – – I mean what better reward than to feel the soft sand under your feet – – – 😉 While approaching our destination we got stuck in serious traffic… It seems that it was such a beautiful day that the WHOLE world decided to go to the beach… we drove around for more than 30 minutes with NO luck of getting a parking spot… Oh my!!! Beyond tired does not describe how we felt!!! 😦
Upon arriving back in Stellenbosch we decided to stop at a hotel & ask them if they could refer us to a place with budget accommodation… (as we did not budget on paying for accommodation, we wanted to get by as cheap as possible…) The guy at the desk asked us what our budget was & gave us more than a 40% discount on one of their rooms (because the shower does not have a door)… It was still a tad above our price range, but being as tired as we were – we grabbed this super-dooper special!!! 😀 We unloaded our stuff, got something to eat, took a bath & fell asleep before 20h00… 🙂
The next morning we slept late… (you know, because those beds were just soooooooooo comfortable!!! 😉 )… We each took a looooooooooooong bath again & went down for breakfast…. all-you-can-eat-buffet :D…
I feel that I must inform you that we slept in the Eendracht Boutique Hotel… They were voted best small in 2009 & 2011… What a joy…!!! & it was pouring with rain on the evening that we slept there – pure bliss!!!! 😀
The next day we had nothing specific planned… It was still early so we decided to go to the beach for our long-overdue feet-in-sand-reward 😉 …
The beach was very very very quite…. early joggers, life savers preparing for the day ahead…
We spent quite a while on the beach… soaking in the very cool sea breezes… enjoying the sun… generally enjoying not having to do 500+ kms!!! 🙂 We met with our friend and went to his home… unpacked and spent the rest of the day catching up with him!!!
In my next holiday post I will tell you about our wine-tasting day… So stay tuned for Part.5 😉 **
In April we had a little time to get away for a few days… We decided to join a few friends and go camping at Sodwana Bay. It was only for a few days, but it was relaxing as ever! Me and he-who-thinks-he’s-boss kept ourselves busy by lazing on the beach… running up and down the dunes… swimming in the ocean… reading magazines under the umbrella… you get the idea…
Sodwana is the only place in South Africa where you are allowed with your vehicle on the beach. Personally, to me this spoils the feeling and atmosphere of the beach. Nevertheless, we had a fun time!!!
Due credit for the photo above… it wasn’t me – – – but he-who-thinks-he’s-boss – – – (my other half actually takes very good Black&White photos!! Some of them will be popping up on my blog every now and again!!)
Hope you enjoyed this post and photographs!! 🙂
Till next time!! **
