Winter in Edmonton…

I have finally downloaded the photos that I have taken with my cellphone over the last couple of months… Here are a few shots of Edmonton…

A View of the Bushveld!!!

A few months ago a group of our friends went away for the weekend… It was such a relaxing weekend – – – just what the doctor ordered at that time!! (which he is ordering now as well…. except… I’m not obeying – – – unwillingly!!! Ooooops!! 🙂 )

Kamonande is about 200 km North from where I live… in the middle of nowhere!!! Our winters are extremely dry… & this winter was no different!! This shot is a bit blurry… but the blur seems much less in B/W!!

This is just about what you see… Bushveld as far as the eye can see in all directions!!! Super Relaxing!!! 😀 **

Place of Shade …

End July we went to the Groenkloof Nature Reserve where the guys went mountain-biking and the girls lazed at the picnic area!!! Thought this sign was quite ironic stating that it is a “Place of Shade”… & with the winter and no leaves = no shade!!

Nevertheless.. I liked the shot with the rays coming through!!! 🙂 **

Winter is saying goodbye…

The last two days have really shown a sudden change in weather. The cold has gone & the heat has arrived – – – suddenly. South Africa’s weather has a mind of its own. This photo was taken at the end of autumn/beginning of winter this year (end May). I’ve taken quite a few photos of spring starting to show its colours (which I will post asap!).

Some weekend pics

Today was a very laid-back day. Me and he-who-think-he’s-boss went to the autofair, bought a dishwasher (Yaaaaayyyy!!! 😀 — very happy face!) and are now chilling in front of the tele — a favourite to relax!

Fortunately I shot some pics on Friday before going on our getaway! Here are a few that I am pretty pleased with. Any comments/feedback on how to better my photos are more than welcome! I want to learn… &as you can see in my ‘About’, I’m an amateur photographer! — so please feel welcome to give me some pointers!! 🙂

Winter has taken its toll - our lonely postbox!

This is the type of stuff I love to shoot! It is simple & often overlooked in our busy daily lives. It is a challenge to shoot it in a different way or from a different angle. Often my best shot would be the simplest (is there even such a word?). I try to keep manipulation to a minimum (as my photoshop knowledge is very limited), most often my photos are directly from the camera.

Hope you enjoy!
