Stratford-on-Avon, UK – Duck Delicacy

My second post for the night & my Travel Lane memory for the week!!! 😀

In December 2005, me & a few friends did a bit of holiday work on a farm in the Stratford-on-Avon region… Yes, it was beautiful… It was super hard work… – – – Not work that I’ll be doing if it wasn’t for the fact that we were in England – – – I’ll never do it here in South Africa!!! 😉

Our job was to wake up super early (in the freaken freezing cold)… catch duck & turkeys… put them in a dark room… ready to start the process of “preparing” them for christmas dinner!!!! 😉

Plucking the feathers… taking out the intestines… weighing… packaging… etc. etc!!! 😀 How on earth was I able to do it?? – Today I don’t know 😀 – But it was fun & a beautiful place… Maybe you know the place… Lower Clopton Farm Shop??? Yes, we lived there for a few weeks… maybe you ate one of my prepared turkey’s/ducks!!! 😀 **

Yup, that’s me… & a waxed duck!!!! 😀

Every Cloud has a Silver Lining!!!

Hi there everyone!! I hope you had a terrific weekend!!! We were soooooo busy – – – I must apologise for the decrease in posts the last while!! It seems that for the last while I haven’t gotten quite enough time to go out & get decent shots!! It is not going to change for quite some time… Work is crazy at the moment (people pushing for the last month of work before shut-down)!!!  I can tell you…. It’s NOT fun!!! But…

Every Cloud has a Silver Lining!!! 🙂In just over a month I’ll be on vacation for two weeks!!! Can’t wait!!! 😀 **

On another note… He-who-thinks-he’s-boss have always had this dream to go and live abroad for a few years!! We went to the Opportunities Expo this weekend, it was companies from Australia, New Zealand & Canada promoting their companies here in South Africa. We decided to go, because we’ve been talking about Canada for a while now (rather he’s been talking about it – I’m not keen on change!!)… but he had an interview on Sunday with a company from Canada…. It’s scary and exciting!!! Although it still means nothing (sounds like this is quite a lengthy process), it seems quite real!!! – – – I mean, if we don’t do it soon, we’ll probably NEVER do it – – –

We are looking at Edmonton or Ottowa!!! Have you ever relocated? What was your experience? Ever been to Canada? Opinions?

What a weekend… He-who-thinks-he’s-boss turns 30!!

Whhhhow!!! This weekend was C.R.A.Z.Y !!! Got off work early(ish) on friday to prepare for the 30 something guests that we were expecting for he-who-thinks-he’s-boss’ 30th birthday party… total madness!!  – – – but great fun – – – only got into bed at about 4 AM…

Had a super busy weekend. Friday started off with he-who-thinks-he’s-boss’ phone starting to ring at 6 AM (which is way to early for such a ‘not-a-morning-person’ such as myself!) & as you already know only ended almost 24 hours later.

I was quite excited about the present I got he-who-thinks-he’s-boss (in his next life he is going to be a cowboy… loves western novels!). I ordered him the Sackett Series of Louis L’Amour – – – Leatherette collection!!! – – – and he LOVED it!!! #happyface 🙂

Saturday was car-hunting again (I’ve been stranded for over a month now – becoming quite frustrated with not having a car!) – – – no luck there… and then we watched the tri-nations rugby with some friends at a restaurant. Great fun, but after the previous evening in dire need of some sleep!

Sunday we had a very relaxing lunch at he-who-thinks-he’s-boss’ parents home! And after eating ourselves into a deep trance of utter laziness we were definitely not ready for the realization that the weekend was over and that we had to work again today… 😦

A snapshot of me & he-who-thinks-he's-boss (taken by friend)!

Needless to say… he-who-thinks-he’s-boss is still in a deep depression over turning 30 (does all men go through this ‘crisis’?)… hope he gets over it by the time he turns 40 🙂 oh just imagine!!

Oia, here I come… One day!!!!

I should be working…. But instead I am looking at pictures of faraway places…. wishing I could be there — and hoping that no-one would sneak up behind me and see that instead of designing & detailing my projects, I’m browsing the internet… Oops!!! 😉

Came across this beautiful picture (on StumbleUpon). It is a big dream of me to visit the Greek Islands – – – I plan to get married there someday!!! (… someday!!!) But isn’t this picture just indescribably dreamy?
