A Historic Landmark in San Francisco and situated in the Heart of the Castro District. When we visited San Francisco in April this year, we stayed just up the hill from this landmark. Although the whole Castro street was under construction, it still stood out as a gorgeous building!
This movie palace, with its Spanish Colonial Baroque façade was built in 1922. It has over 1400 seats, and its designer, Timothy Pflueger, also designed a few other theatres in California in that period. Unfortunately we did not go see a movie there – our time was very limited and we explored this interesting city until our legs did not want to put another step in front of the other. So we skipped on the movie! 🙂
Great post!

Thank you Emory!! 🙂 **
Definitely, a landmark. Here’s my take on this landmark. https://allentimphotos2.wordpress.com/2014/10/04/the-castro-theater/
Great shot AllenTim!! 🙂
Thank you. That theater marquee was one that I really wanted. The two across the bay in Oakland – the Fox Oakland and Paramount are stunning. I’ve still got to get the Paramount at the right time. Winter is good because the trees in front of the marquee will be bare.
Hmmmm…. maybe a return visit should be placed on the table!! Good luck on getting your perfect shot!
Thank you. I return trip a must – but also the wine country of Sonoma and Napa Counties if you did not make it up here.
